ursuline high school lawsuit

Ursuline High School down there in Youngstown is now facing some serious lawsuits, and it is not just for the on-paper talks; see the allegations and the evidence are really serious. And sure enough, if you are a parent in this country who is sending their kids to schools, then without a doubt, you should be reading about this Ursuline High School Lawsuit. Just to brief you a little bit here, these two cases actually involve serious allegations like hazing, sexual assault, and of course, the utmost negligence of the school.

First Of All, A Quick Look at Ursuline High School

First things first, of course, Ursuline is among the most recognized and famous Catholic schools down there in Ohio. They have their own famous football team as well, which goes by the name Fighting Irish. And just so you know, right here, Paul Maguire, a former NFL player, and Ed O’Neill, an actor from Modern Family, are among the most famous alumni.

However, the school’s primary aim, as said in the lawsuits, was to protect the football program instead of preserving students. To put that in the simplest words possible, see, football rose above student safety.

The First Lawsuit: Hazing on a Football Trip

The first lawsuit came from a mother filing a complaint regarding the claims of her son, regularly referred to as “Son King” in legal papers, who was a freshman football player.

While on a summer football camp trip across Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee, the brothers in the older team, it is said, subjected him to a series of acts of humiliation, degradation, and physical abuse. Among these events, there were some that were filmed and even shared on Snapchat. In the complaint, these videos are referred to as “child pornography.”

An assistant coach allegedly dismissed the situation as just “boys being boys.” The mother did report the abuse, but little was done until after the lawsuit was filed, and only then were the football season and events canceled. Head coach Daniel Reardon was suspended, two assistant coaches were placed on leave, yet the principal, the assistant principal, and the athletic director went about their business as usual.

The Second Lawsuit: Harassment of a Female Student

On September 10, 2025, a new lawsuit was filed. The latest matter is about a woman who is a student and is called “Daughter Chef”.

So far, the suit alleged that in or around 2023, Player-6 had been requesting sex and nude photos from the woman, and began acting violently when she refused, and that’s the major concerning part here. During summer gym, he allegedly picked her up, slammed her down to the turf, and dragged her across some distance, burning her back in the process.

Her family even claims that the school authorities turned a blind eye. Supposedly, the assistant principal refuted the idea of filing a police complaint against the girl’s mother, maintaining that the school would internally address the matter, while, indeed, nothing was ever done. The harassment intensified as Player-6 kept the victim under his watchful eye and tormented her, even calling her a “snitch” in front of her peers.

And sure enough, when this went on for two years, her family finally decided to move her to another school, and of course, for safety reasons.

Precisely, What Is Happening Now?

A criminal investigation is taking place at the moment. There are allegations being investigated by the police and the county children’s services. Head coach Daniel Reardon remains suspended, and two assistants remain on leave. But, administrators like Margaret Damore and the athletic director John DeSantis remain in their positions.
