The Erika Kirk ABC Lawsuit Hoax: A $40 Million Story Built on Nothing

We all know that just last month, Charlie Kirk was brutally murdered while debating college students in Utah, but right now, after his death, many fake rumors are spreading, even concerning his family, and mainly his wife, Erika Kirk. There is this rumor spreading that Erika has sued ABC and The View for $40 million, but that’s just a rumor and nothing else. Let’s talk about why this Erika Kirk ABC Lawsuit is not true and where or how this fake news even spread so much.

Where Did This Lawsuit Rumor Start?

It was precisely in the middle of September 2025 that the allegation was flying around social media. Posts were stating that Erika Kirk had filed a $40 million lawsuit against ABC and The View because the hosts had been insulting poor Charlie Kirk, who died in September while at an event on a campus in Utah. Some even included fake quotes from Erika, such as: “No more slandering good folks for TV ratings.”

But here is the reality: in the first place, it came to be from a parody Facebook group called America’s Last Line of Defense, of which, in its own description, it says, “Nothing here is real.” It is a satirical page. The problem, many did not take note of that, considering it was real, and that is why it spread so fast.

How Can You Tell If It’s True?

Checking for the same is easy. There have been no official reports, court filings, or anything was ever published to confirm the existence of this lawsuit. Big-name publications like Distractify and Hindustan Times have investigated it and came up empty-handed; even Snopes, the fact-checking site, has confirmed the story is fake.

If you think about it, any suit of $40 million against ABC would be headline news for Reuters, AP, or CNN. Since no credible agency has reported on it, the claim is false.

Other Fake Stories Circulating

And there’s more. Another false claim had it that Whoopi Goldberg insulted Erika Kirk on The View, calling her names like “Sit down, Barbie” or something worse. According to rumors, celebrities and even Elon Musk stood up for Erika. But it never happened.

In actuality, when The View aired after Charlie Kirk’s death, the hosts were condoling and respectful. The fictional account of the event went viral. Then there were rumors about Erika working with Megyn Kelly to start a new talk show to replace The View. That’s not true again.

What’s Actually Going On Legally?

Charlie Kirk’s passing is the main point of the authentic court case. Tyler Robinson, who is 22 years old, was apprehended by the law enforcement officers, and they have filed a charge of aggravated murder against him. The County Attorney of Utah, Jeff Gray, has said that they are going to demand capital punishment.

Erika has gone on record describing her grief. In an interview with The New York Times, she said she sees Charlie’s death as part of “God’s plan.” Asked about the suspect’s punishment, she said she does not want “that man’s blood on my ledger,” adding that “that is for the government to decide.” These were her actual words, not just some posed from an ABC-affiliated lawsuit situation.

Why Did This Fake Story Spread?

Simply put, the rumor found its rapid dissemination because everyone was stressed after Charlie’s death, and shocking headlines get clicks. A parody page tries to  publish believable items while clickbait sites further amplify with headlines like “Widow Sues ABC for Millions.” It is such a dramatic headline that people share it without bothering to check.
